Kwara Commissioner for Communications empowers 20 women on her birthday.

At least 20 young women got a life-changing empowerment opportunity from Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Harriet Adenike Afolabi-Oshatimehin. Twenty women were chosen from the numerous women that applied for the opportunity. The beneficiaries were selected from each of the wards in the Ifelodun Local Government area where she represents.
Hon Oshatimehin had earlier visited the General Hospital Ilorin where she made various need-based donations to several of the patients in the wards.
Speaking with our correspondent, the beneficiaries expressed their delights after they made it to the final phase among the numerous applicants.
They will be trained in Fishery, Cake making, and Hairdressing. They will then be given equipment that will aide their independence as a business owner in their community.
Stakeholders in Ifelodun LGA who monitored the exercise expressed their confidence and also thanked the commissioner for the laudable initiative saying it’s timely and well thought out.
Speaking at the life-changing program Hon Oshatimehin said this is not the first time I empower people from my local government but I did this to Mark my birthday and also to complement the numerous people-driven initiative of HE Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
She stressed that she was moved when she listened to their stories and know-how Covid-19 and the ensuing disruptions affected businesses, especially at the grassroots.
The beneficiaries will be trained, monitored, and mentored so that they can make the best out of the process. She also advised those who were not chosen to remain calm and not to lose focus in pursuing their dreams.
